The human right to water is a prerequisite for life, for the exercise of other human rights. Everyone can count on a sufficient amount of affordable and physically safe and acceptable water for personal and household needs. Since the middle of the XX century, international legal documents have given a special role to the human right to clean water and sanitation. To solve the problem of the shortage of clean water, the UN holds conferences and implements programs. Statistics have improved, but the problem remains relevant, so the purpose of the study is to study the human right to water and sanitation, referring to the UN activities in this area and considering, in particular, the situation in Mongolia with this right. Attention is focused on the need to consolidate the clear content of the human right to water and sanitation in the regulatory legal acts of Mongolia.
