Annotation:
The article deals with the becoming of the practice of translating Buddhist texts in the historical and cultural aspect, the influence of the Chinese worldview on the activities of some translators of Buddhist texts, it also presents a brief review of the activities of transla- tors of Buddhist texts. The methods developed by the translators of Buddhist texts have evolved over more than one century. The translators was meticulous in the choice of the terms for translation to Chinese. We have described some ways of translating Buddhist terms into Chinese, as well as difficulties in conveying the meaning of Buddhist texts. The article gives examples of innovations in translation of Buddhist texts into Chinese by such translators as Kumārajīva, Tao Sheng, Seng-Chao. We have analyzed the influence of the Chinese worldview on the activities of translators of Buddhist texts, as a result of which translation schools and Chinese Buddhist schools were developed.
