The article is dedicated to the memory of Doctor of Philosophical Sciences, Pro- fessor Yuriy B. Randalov. We have described his role in the development of sociological science in Buryatia, his biography and the main milestones of professional activity. Yuriy B. Randalov analyzed the transformational processes in social organization of the peoples of the republic, formulated conceptual approaches to the study of problems of social modernization of the Siberian ethnic society, socio-cultural interaction of ethnic groups in the region in modern conditions. As a talented scientist and organizer of science, he founded his own school of qualified sociologists and developed cooperation with his Mongolian colleagues. We emphasize that his students and followers are actively continuing the work of their mentor and teacher, reaching new horizons in studying modern social pro- cesses in the Mongolian world.
