Annotation:
The article considers the innovation activity of universities as a factor of their competitive- ness. The research drawn up the guidance for the analysis of the indicators of university competitiveness and effective management of competitiveness. There had been determined personnel, publication activity and implemental components of innovative activity. We made a comparative analysis of the indicators of university scientific activities. Railway universities, as well as regional leaders — Novosibirsk State Research University and No- vosibirsk State Technical University were the objects of our study. The research revealed the steady position of Siberian State Transport University in innovative activity and the backlog in personnel and publication activity components.
The increase of innovative activity will positively affect the ability to train personnel with the necessary for innovative development of the economy knowledge and skills.
