Annotation:
The article discusses the concept and methodology of developing scenarios for the language policy of a multicultural and multilingual state. Taking into account the latest research in this area and foreign experience, we have developed scenarios for the language policy of the Russian Federation. Working out of methods for scenario development and its use for language policy planning, as well as the definition of language policy models is a fundamental scientific problem due to the following reasons: a novelty of problem defi-nition and undervaluation of the theoretical and practical significance of forecasting as a tool and basis for language policy and planning; a lack of fundamental scientific works on the problems of forecasting in view of its fundamentally interdisciplinary nature; an ab-sence of a doctrinal document in the field of planning the language policy of the Russian Federation. In Russian and foreign scientific discourse, the issues of sociolinguistic fore-casting were hardly touched upon, that is why this scientific topic should be considered as a new one in shaping the future of Russian languages.
Keywords:
