Annotation:
The article deals with spelling of the text "’Song of Shildei Zangi", written in Mongo- lian script, which reflects the linguistic features of the Chorin dialect of the Buryat lan- guage. The song is quoted from “Atsagat Chronicle about the Khori-Buryats" (''Qori bu- riyad tuqai Ačaγad-tu bičigdegsen tobči teüke''). “The Atsagat Chronicle…" is an origi- nal historical chronicle devoted to the history of the Khori-Buryats from the legend of Bargu-Bator to the Volost Reform of 1904. This research is of significant importance as there is a need for further studies of Buryats’ written heritage. The importance of this research also lies in the growth of public interest to Mongolian script within the condi- tions of Buryats living in Russia. The research tries to interpret elements of colloquial origins on the material of Khori-Buryat speech of the 20thcentury. The methodological framework of the study is presented by the linguistic comparative analysis of the studied written source with the norms of the classical written Mongolian language and the col- loquial Khori dialect. The study has revealed the similarity of most forms with the ele- ments of living colloquial speech. Spelling deviations in the text can be recognized as a deliberate attempt to fix and transmit colloquial speech. Undoubtedly, this poetic sam- ple illustrats the process of reflecting the spoken language in the early written texts of the Buryats. We have used the following sources and materials in our study: the transliterated text of the song, the collection of Buryat folk poetry by B. Baradin (1910), the materials of A. D. Rudnev on the Khori dialect of the Buryats (1914).
