DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ INFORMATION COMPETENCE IN LEARNING PRINTING DESIGN

This article describes the nature and structure of information competence. The development of information competence of University students is an important topic, as one of the main tasks of higher education is the training of highly qualified specialists: competent, fluent in their profession, owning new information technologies, ready for professional growth. Knowledge of information competence is especially important for the future designer, as his professional activity is inextricably linked with the use of computer technology. The process of development of information competence of students was conducted in the class- room on information technology in design. In the classroom, students were taught to devel- op design and layout of a multi-page magazine. In the process of problem learning, students independently determine what they know, what information they still need, how to get it; formulate ways to solve the problem, choose the most effective of them.
