Annotation:
The article is devoted to some aspects of the national question considered by N. Ya. Danilevsky in his book “Russia and Europe” and discussed at present. The philoso- pher substantiated the importance of the national factor in history, which has been quite confirmed in the last century and a half. He showed the ethnic diversity of humanity, em- phasized that different peoples are at the different stages of development and have their own unique identities, accentuated their potential and the equality of their rights, including peo- ples who found themselves on the sidelines of the main path of world history. He criticized Eurocentrism that is still relevant today. The thinker highly appreciated the gentleness, moderation, prudence, selflessness of the Russian people, the absence of national egoism, and their ability to adapt to a foreign ethnic environment. He objectively characterized the national policy of the Russian state. The main idea of Danilevsky’s concept that Russia’s is a full participant in world history has not lost its relevance today.
