The article reviews the directions and activities for primary prevention of drug- related disorders among the population of the Republic of Buryatia. The preventive activ- ities of specialists from the Republican Addiction Treatment Center in preventing the out- break of drug-related disorders during the pandemic associated with the spread of corona- virus infection are described. The comprehensive work of the Treatment Center included educating the population through lectures, seminars, interagency interaction, providing methodological assistance to doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other specialists work- ing in the field of drug abuse prevention. This work has had positive results in reducing the number of people abusing alcohol and psychoactive substances. Such work should espe- cially be carried out in educational institutions. The volunteer movement, in which students of the Radnaev Republican Basic Medical College actively participate, plays a decisive role in this direction. It is also crucial to emphasize the importance of informational work.
