Annotation:
The relevance of the research is related to the influence of accentuated personality traits on the individual strategies of the athlete's behavior. Most studies are devoted to the emo- tional components of the state, the problem of the influence of accentuated traits of a per- son's character on sports activities has not been sufficiently studied. Materials. Specificity of accentuated character traits in athletes is related to their sports-specialization. The study was carried out on the basis of the republican medical and sports dispensary. The sample was made up of athletes residing in the territory of the Republic of Buryatia, in the number of 59 people, aged 19 to 28 years. Athletes were divided into two groups accord- ing to their sport specialization. In the first group (contact kinds of sports, the analytical functions and the mastering of operational information of the struggle against the rival are important) included athletes engaged in combat sports (boxing, wrestling, karate). The second group (with performance by rivals of competitive actions without interference from each other) was made up by sportsmen of shooting sports: archery, bullet shooting. Methods. Analysis and generalization of scientific psychophysiological, psychological and pedagogical literature, experiment, testing, statistical data processing. The psychodi- agnostic part of the study was made by the following methods: "A shortened multifactori- al questionnaire of personality" in the adaptation of VP Zaitsev and the technique of

Sports-specialization: manifestations of types of character accentuations have a different degree of severity depending on the specialization. Athletes involved in contact sports are distinguished by the predominance of hyperthymic, demonstrative and excitable types of character accentuations. Athletes engaged in non-contact sports are characterized by cyclotimic and pedantic types of accentuated character traits, with less expressed anxiety and hypertimic types. The conclusion. According to the results of the study, on the one hand, certain accentuated features can be sporting — important qualities and influence the success of sports activities, and, on the other hand, have a negative im- pact on sports success, the stability of sports results, and also be a factor in the defor- mation of the athlete's personality.
