Annotation:
The article focuses on a specific social category — "new Far Easterners". These are foreign migrants who participate in the program to assist the resettlement of compatriots in Primorsky Krai. Most of them are citizens of the CIS countries. The study is based on of- ficial regional statistics and a quantitative sociological survey conducted in the form of tele- phone interview (n=145) as part of a monitoring strategic plan. The results has shown that the migration exchange of Primorye with other regions of Russia is negative, and with the CIS countries is positive. At the same time, the quality of life can be interpreted as one of the factors affecting the migration (un)attractiveness of the region, contributing to both the migration outflow and the inflow of the population. Satisfaction of migrants with their stay in the host community increases the attractiveness of Primorye as a preferred region for the subsequent influx of foreign migrants, including those, who participate in the program to as- sist the resettlement of compatriots. In addition, the results of the study made it possible to identify typical problems of social adaptation of foreign migrants arriving for permanent residence in the host regional community, the elimination of these problems will minimize the destructive consequences of adaptation in the future.
