The author shares his experience of teaching at the literature depart- ment of the ESSACA Faculty of culture, teaching professional transla- tors for regional publishing industry. Тhe students – future literature specialists and translators of fiction – are actively engaged in the theory and technique of translation of Buryat writers, whose works have not been translated into Russian. Translator’s creativity, his cultural level, literary analysis skills, understanding of text specificity of a lit- erary text play an important role in translator’s work.
