Annotation:
January 30 (January 17 Old Style) А. P. Chekhov always celebrated his Patronal Feast Day – the day of the saint Anthony the Great. After the Revolution of 1917 there was a substitution of Angel Day (Name Day) by Birthday, which was for the writer on January 29. Thus Or- thodox cultural tradition in which Chekhov was born and raised was distorted.
Keywords:
A. P. Chekhov, Angel Day, Name Day, Birthday.
