PROPER NAMES IN THE BURYAT GESERIADE: SYNTAXES AND POETICS

The paper discusses the syntactical peculiarities and poetics of uliger anthroponyms, which mainly determine the axiological content of the epic onomasticon as a whole. Attention is paid to the functional characteristics of names in the epic of Geser. The analysis is based on the epic texts written from different narrators: A. Vasiliev, P. Petrov, P. Dmitriev, M. Ime- genov, P. Tushemilov. The symbolism of epic names reveals itself in the fact that they carry a certain semantic burden, are characterized by original structure, their role and functions in the epic world picture. The epithetic system of names representing a single semantic com- plex which is a hierarchically arranged group of words: magical definition + name + title + epithets to them, etc. is identified in the course of analysis. The author also points out differ- ent groups of epic anthroponyms according to their syntactic and functional parameters, axi- ological characteristics.
