CHEMICAL CASTRATION OF CHILD MOLESTERS AND RAPISTS: THE FOREIGN EXPERIENCE AND APPLICABILITY IN RUSSIA

The article studies the institution of chemical castration as a measure of punishing child molesters and rapists. Despite the increase in criminal liability and penalties, crimes against sexual crime against sexual inviolability and sex- ual freedom occur more and more often. This testifies to the fact that the measures applied by the state are only partially effective, therefore, we propose introducing a more effective punishment in relation to child molesters and rap- ists — chemical castration. The article describes the procedure of chemical cas- tration, analyzes the experience of foreign countries, as well as the possibility of introducing this type of punishment into Russian legislation. We give a sug- gestion to introduce chemical castration in two versions: as a compulsory med- ical measure for people suffering from certain disorders and anomalies, and as an additional condition for the parole for persons convicted of sexual crimes.
