The article examines the establishment and expansion of multifaceted interstate
relations between Russia and China, the history of Mongolian peoples living between
them, and the construction of the modern state by Khalkha Mongols in conditions of balancing
among superpowers. It explores the position of Mongolian leadership during periods
of intensified interstate relations and the development of conflicting Russian-Chinese
contradictions. Additionally, the article considers the course of Mongolian authority during
the stages of Russian-Chinese collusion and the implementation of policies dictated by
bilateral agreements. The role of Buryat-Mongols during the era of revolutionary transformations
in Mongolian society in the 20th century is evaluated. Significant attention is
given to the formation of a multipolar world and Mongolia's attitude towards its establishment
and changes in the situation in the East Asian region, as well as Mongolia's political
course in seeking a “third neighbor.”
