Annotation:
The article deals with the role of teachers in the system of execution of sentences. The author examines the features and specifics of teaching convicts in prison based on in-depth interviews and observations. Today, convicts are a large part of our society. As of January 2020, there are 389,450 and 29,506 people in correctional colonies and settlement colonies, respec- tively.
Convicted people who are only temporarily isolated and how much a person has re- alized the degree of their guilt depends on their continued stay out of isolation, i.e. among us. Many understanding of the offense depends on the quality of educational activities aimed at offenders are often promoters of such educational work is the teacher. In the proposed article, we tried to show the conditions of serving sentences by con- victs, their perception of themselves in the new social environment, and describe the role of teachers and education in the daily life of convicts. We also tried to under- stand how the teacher perceives himself in such unusual conditions and how he in- teracts with the convicts. In our work, we do not pretend to be scientific, but rather want to open the veil of the hidden side of the educational process, which is not accepted to speak loudly, but only to mention in passing.
