In article the essence and process of distance training as new educational practice are consi- dered. In historical aspect contradictions of development of distance training are analyzed. It is noted that distance training should be considered as form of education, along with inter- nal, correspondence, intramural and extramural and the external studies. The basis of dis- tance training is constituted by purposeful and controlled hard independent work of the trai- nee.
