Annotation:
The article highlights a variety of views on the notion of matrimony invalidity. It analyses grounds for annulment of marriage enshrined in the Russian family legis- lation, as well as discusses the issue of their insufficiency. The author suggests that the respective list of grounds be complemented, and the rule of maintaining medical privacy in cases when persons who are planning to conclude marriage undergo a joint health examination be suspended. The article provides examples of legal regu- lation of mandatory medical examination of persons entering into marriage in for- eign countries and suggests the introduction of the institute in Russia.
