The article is devoted to the issue of students' public opinion on current migration situation. The article deals with a number of issues that, in the author's opinion, are key to understanding migration processes in the territory of Buryatia. The choice of the research object is due to the fact that students are one of the most dynamic social groups, which easily adapts and adapts the modern world to new changes, being a kind of driver of social development. How students perceive the so- called "other" migrant will determine the entire migration policy and the further co- existence of migrants and indigenous residents of the region.
The author examines students ' perception of migrants through the prism of everyday communication, industrial and labor relations, and marriage and family relations.
The work consists of several semantic sections describing migration processes in the region and the attitude of students to them:
the methodology of the study; — the migrants in the public opinion of the student body; — migrants in the labor market and competition with the local population; — fears and stereotypes that exist in the region in relation to migrants; — conflict and the degree of real threats from migrants; — assessment of local media in the descrip- tion of migrants and migration processes.
The material obtained does not in any way claim to solve migration problems and problems of migration policy, but only indicates General trends in the perception of migrants in the student community. The data obtained empirically are rather the basis for further study of migration problems and elaboration of migration policy issues in the region.
The article makes General conclusions that:
Migration in students ' self-perception is not a threat;
the main niche that students are ready to assign to migrants is the service sector. The author concludes that with a larger number of migrants on the labor market in different areas, a conflict situation is possible;
Students generally do not support negative stereotypes that exist in society in rela- tion to migrants;
due to the relatively high percentage of students who have a positive attitude to for- eign cultures and are also interested in them, together with a fairly clear idea of the importance of social inclusion of migrants in Russian society, it is possible to im- plement a system of integration of migrants through the work of volunteer student groups aimed at helping and supporting migrants.
