The article addresses the problem of developing communication skills in chil- dren with intellectual disabilities in the conditions of boarding school. We have de- scribed the key stages of speech therapy, the methods and ways of logopedic rehabilita- tion of children. The speech therapy work proposed by teachers takes into account the correlation between the development of cognitive activity and formation of communica- tion skills in this category of children. The presented communicative games are aimed at the development of social skills, and communicative competence in children with intel- lectual disabilities. The games vary depending on the stage of work and have specific purposes and objectives. We believe that development of children's ability to build up in- terpersonal relationships can help prevent such problems as conflicts and loneliness.
