The article discusses the patriotic education of students at the Baikal College of Subsoil Use in extracurricular activities, which is an integral part of the educational process. In connection with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated October 20, 2012, No. 1416 (as amended on June 26, 2023) "On improving the state policy in the field of patriotic education," the college's educational program has been adjusted in such a way that the main emphasis is placed on patriotic education. One of the effective forms of patriotic and moral education of students in the college is the International Friendship Club. From the first years of study, students become active members of it, informally communicate, show social activity, creativity, and initiative. The club carries out extracurricular activities that shape students' social activity, civic position, sense of patriotism, and pride in their homeland. These include meetings with heroes of the Afghan and Chechen wars, members of the "Com- bat Brotherhood," veterans of local wars and military conflicts. Thus, the goal of the open extracurricular event "The Earth Needs Peace," dedicated to a Special Military Operation, was to educate students in a patriotic attitude towards their country, readiness to defend their homeland, and fulfill their civic and military duty to protect their homeland.

According to the results of an online survey on popular social networks (VKontakte, Od- noklassniki), conducted among student youth in the Republic of Buryatia, it can be stated that they have patriotic sentiments, and most of them consider themselves patriots because their top values are love for their country, small homeland, and home. They are ready to defend their homeland and work for its prosperity.
